Accidents happen and they can occur at any time. If you have any allergies, have any medical conditions, or take any medication that might be important for a first responder to know in the event of an accident please fill out this form. Drop it off with Robert Paige on race day. He'll be located near the slide at the top of the hill. Your information will be treated confidentially and all forms will be destroyed immediately following the race.
In an emergency situation, clarity is important.
-Make sure to circle which race you are in and enter your race number. That will be the quickest way to access your information.
-He doesn't need to know you complete medical history, only what would be critical if you were unconscious or unresponsive, what you would include on a medical alert bracelet for example. In the same vein, please either type or print legibly.

Pre-Register to be Seeded
Benefits of pre-registering:
1/ it's cheaper
2/ you have a chance of winning $500
3/ only pre-registered riders will be seeded.
Transposing category seeding over to age groups used in Provincials is a major challenge. Because any age group might have riders from 3 different ability categories if we seeded at the start line we'd have to read the seeding lists for all 3 categories (i.e. 3 times more than usual) and then repeat the same thing for every single age group. The only way to do it is ahead of time.

Pre-Register and Win Up To $500
Pre-reg will go live on Monday.
You'll save money and because local bike stores are cool and the proper number of bikes is always n+1 we'll help one pre-registered rider on their way with a cash draw prize of $500 to be spent at your local bike shop* (well, I'll give them a cheque).
Don't wait till the last minute. If you miss the deadline for any reason, including, but not limited to the following you miss the deadline:
-you forgot
-you fell asleep after watching 24 hours straight of superprestige replays
-the dog ate your internet cable
-you couldn't pay your internet bill after buying new tubulars and carbon wheels
-after watching your cx performances on youtube Fancy Bears confused you for Wout Van Aert and hacked your computer hoping to find TUEs
-an EM pulse knocked out all internet in Canada (see Fancy Bears above)
-your Samsung Galaxy Note 7 turned itself into a BBQ
*In this case I'm referring to a brick and mortar bike store:
i.e. AlterEgo, Bikes & Beyond, Country Cycle, LifeSport, Olympia, MEC, Woodcock, etc. A store that is involved with the MCA is preferable, but not required.
**Offer is good for one year. Must be a new purchase. Does not apply to a prior purchase.
***Pick carefully. The idea is to give something back to our local bike stores. If you return your purchase for a refund, the money comes back to CrossTastic to be used again. You don't get to pocket it.

New Age Categories for Provincials
We're excited to announce new age categories for master's racers!
We suddenly have a new crop of masters D men and masters C women. To accommodate, on the men's side we've matched the move of Nationals to include 60+ men. On the ladies side we've always been a leader in categories available to our racers and we continue to do so with the inclusion of 50+ ladies. Woot!

Help Danick and Sophie
Tragically Danick's father passed away suddenly on Sept. 25th.
Have me deposit your prize money directly to the TimsHeartBeatsOn memorial fund to help Danick and Sophie and I'll personally match the amount.

More for Sale
2 sets of alloy tubulars in great shape with new tubular tires. One Dugast, One FMB.
1 set Zipp 303s as new. Ridden twice in warm-up and that's it. Sad, but true. There's not even a mark on the hub body from the cassette.
Details to come.

The Cost Of Organizing
Maybe not the cost you anticipate. Yes it is expensive in terms of dollars to host a cyclocross race and extremely expensive in terms of hours needed, but here I'm talking about the physical cost of setting up the course and running the race.
Those organizers who commit to a well run race have always known that there is a physical and mental cost to be borne. We're all volunteers who do it because we love the sport and without professional organizers there's no way around that. We just accept that our worst race of the year will be our own, but how much is the handicap? This year I've used a power meter on my cross bike for the first time and the cost at least to me seems to be 30 watts. Not insubstantial.

Thank You
Thanks to all who came out and helped us achieve a Thanksgiving record!
My deepest thanks to co-organizer Jarret LaBuick, Tania Gottschalk, Dave Dorning, Seema Saini, and Dave Bartel who gave whole days or more and asked nothing more than just tell us what needs to be done.
Big thanks to:
- Chris Harrington, Tom Slymkevich, Daniel Enns, Darcy Beer for hours of help with set-up.
- our awesome registration crew: Michael Feldschmid, Alex Reinhardt, Mike Ducharme, George Kroupa, Leslie Anthony, Sheila Cailleau, Bonnie Penno, and Karen De Blonde.
- race commentator extraordinaire Steve Scoles
- medics Darcy Beer and Patrick Palfreeman
- commissaires Nicola Bistyak, Deanne Weibe, and Scott Wiebe
- Karl Thordarson of the City of Winnipeg
- and anyone else who chipped in with fixing tape, marshalling, or just being awesome
There is a tradition in the cyclocross community of helping tear down at the end of the race. If you're not helping tear down sometimes you're not really getting it. A huge thanks to all those that just jumped in to help; Darcy, Fernie, and especially Tom, Dave B, Marc Fournier, Seema, Albert Falk, and Cam McLaren who after a long day stayed a good couple hours after the race till everything was done.
We'll see you all next year at our traditional date on the penultimate weekend of October. I can't promise 25 degree weather, but we'll have our usual European flair with free wieners/sausages for racers AND spectators and as has been our tradition some fabulous draw prizes.
The timers had planned to use electronic timing, but ran into some technical difficulties.
